FOLK HYMNS
Remember the wondrous works that he has done,
his miracles, and the judgments he uttered,
O offspring of Abraham, his servant,
children of Jacob, his chosen ones!
Psalm 105:5-6 (ESV)

These verses command believers, the offspring of Abraham by faith, to remember God's wondrous works, miracles and judgments. In devotion to God, we have published what we term “folk hymns.” These are hymns or spiritual songs that recount the miracles and judgments of the Christ, as folk songs of days gone by recounted memorable deeds and acts. Much of what you find on HolyScriptureMusic.com are of this genre, recounting the stories of Christ’s miracles and judgments and exploring their implications for believers.

Examples currently available on the website are The Praise of One, The Turning Point and The Wedding Feast. The Praise of One recounts Christ's miracle of healing ten lepers while on His way to Galilee. The Turning Point reminds believers of the servanthood of Christ, that He came not to be served but to serve, and give His life as a ransom for many. And The Wedding Feast recounts Christ's first miracle: changing water to wine at the wedding at Cana, and announcing the end of the Old Covenant and the start of the New.

You will now find a trilogy of hymns on this site that recount Christ's miracles and actions toward those He came to redeem. The hymns in this "Trilogy of the Redeemed" are The Praise of OneThe Gerasene and Son of Timaeus.

More folk hymns will soon be published.
